Dormant Fertilizer - December
This is an application of fertilizer that is put down in December after the green blades of grass stop growing for the year. Although the surface of the grass isn't growing any more the roots are still active. This late application of fertilizer is absorbed and stored by the roots of the grass plant.
This will make your lawn green up earlier in the spring. Some lawns, especially the lawns with a lot of Kentucky blue grass, tend to green up later in the spring than those lawns with other grasses in them. Dormant fertilizer will make those lawns green up a little sooner in the spring. If you are looking for an early spring green up then dormant fertilizer is a must. |
